Meet Annick: The Heart of Gusto House

Annick joined the team in May 2023 to help bring Gusto House to life and she’s been keeping everything running like clockwork ever since! As the friendly face at reception, Annick is your go-to for any enquiries and the heartbeat of our busy community.

We recently sat down with Annick to dive deeper into her role at Gusto House and what things she loves the most about her job.

What first drew you to the Gusto House?

I walked past Gusto House whilst it was being built and was blown away by how ahead of its time it was. The thoughtful, forward-thinking design stuck with me, and I knew I wanted to be part of the company behind it. Then, during my interview, I was shown a VR walkthrough of the building while it was still under construction, and it was stunning. I just knew after that moment, that I wanted to be a part of this!

What is your favourite part of your role, and what does a typical day look like?

My favourite part is meeting people and helping to create the welcoming, community-driven atmosphere Gusto House is known for.

A typical day starts with checking the diary for meetings, bookings, and events, then setting up the spaces so everything runs smoothly. I keep on top of facilities management, repairs, servicing, and general care of the building along responding and processing customer enquiries. No two days are the same, which keeps things interesting.

What is the most rewarding moment you’ve had at Gusto House so far?

Seeing Gusto Fest come to life has been my standout moment! I am part of the team that organises our big summer event for staff and their families, and watching everyone come together, laughing, relaxing, and enjoying the day, makes all the planning feel completely worth it. It’s the greatest day of the year!

How does the unique design of Gusto House influence your work?

Gusto House is a truly beautiful setting, and you can feel how much care went into its design. That attention to detail inspires me to look after the space, support our customers, and take pride in being part of the team here.

What is the one word you would use to describe the Gusto House community, and why?

Connected!

Everyone who walks through the door naturally connects with the community, whether they’re here to work, host an event, attend a class, or view the beautiful art. It’s a place where conversations spark easily and people instantly feel welcome and part of something special.

What is your favourite space at Gusto House?

My favourite space is The Studio. I love the variety of activities it hosts. There’s always something going on and the beautiful artwork from local artists gives the room a creative energy that makes it special every time you walk in.

What would you tell someone who is thinking about using Gusto House for the first time?

Do it! The moment you step inside, you’ll understand why people love it here. It’s welcoming, flexible, beautifully designed, and affordable. We genuinely enjoy supporting our community.

What's a hidden talent or fun fact about yourself that most people don't know?

I gained my customer service training and experience as cabin crew, which gave me the chance to travel the world and even spend six years living in America. Along the way, I developed a real love for country music.

When you aren’t at Gusto House, what are you doing in Collingham or the surrounding area?

I love grabbing a coffee or cocktail at The Allotment, but as a mum of two daughters passionate about musical theatre, I’m often playing “mum taxi” to rehearsals. Whenever we can, we treat ourselves to a trip to a regional theatre to catch a touring show. It’s our little family tradition.

Thank you to Annick for giving us a glimpse into her world at Gusto House. Her enthusiasm and commitment to making the space feel connected and welcoming shine through every day. Her passion for the building and the community is infectious, and it’s why Gusto House feels like home to so many.
