Introducing Polly from Brave Space Yoga
At Gusto House, we believe in holding space for genuine transformation and belonging, and we’re thrilled to welcome Polly from Brave Space to our community. Polly is a wonderful teacher whose personal journey from the demanding corporate world to the grounding wisdom of Forrest Yoga and Body Psychotherapy influences her teaching. Her approach is all about creating a safe, inspiring environment for her participants to move beyond the physical poses and connect with their deeper selves. Through a blend of strength, breathwork, and emotional awareness, she invites you to discover profound inner resilience. We sat down with Polly to learn more about her practice, her excitement about teaching at Gusto House, and what makes her unique blend of yoga so transformative.
Polly from Brave Space Yoga is bringing Forrest Yoga to Gusto House in November!
What’s one thing you’re excited about teaching at Gusto House?
“I’m so looking forward to teaching in a setting that feels both grounding and inspiring. Gusto House has such a nurturing energy. It’s calm yet full of possibility. I’m excited to welcome people who may be looking for something deeper from their yoga practice and a space to reconnect with themselves, build strength, and explore movement that truly honours how they feel. I love sharing this practice and witnessing individuals’ step into their own power. it’s quite transformational when you let it in!”
What inspired you to become a yoga teacher?
“My journey began as a personal one. After years of working long hours in the corporate world, stress and exhaustion eventually forced me to make a change. I was initially sceptical and intimidated by the idea of yoga, but I discovered a practice and a teacher that helped me to reconnect with my body and discover my true sense of self. That process led me to Forrest Yoga and eventually to integrate Body Psychotherapy, combining both movement and emotional awareness. Teaching became a natural extension of my own healing and an invitation for others to find the same sense of belonging within themselves.”
What can someone expect from their first class with you?
“They can expect a slower pace than you might imagine, but with surprising depth. Forrest Yoga invites you to feel and to connect breath, strength, and awareness. You’ll work with intelligent sequencing, long-held poses, and gentle but powerful techniques to release tension. Every class begins with an intention that meets you where you are, so no two sessions ever feel the same.”
What’s a common benefit someone experiences in your classes?
“Most people notice how strong they are, often much stronger than they believed. But the real shift happens inside. They notice more space in their breath, more clarity in their thoughts, and a softening of old patterns that kept them stuck. It’s a practice that builds emotional and physical resilience hand in hand. I love hearing when someone calls on what they’ve discovered through their practice. Perhaps it’s navigating a difficult conversation with a loved one or at work, or other everyday real-life circumstances. People begin to use their breath and body’s wisdom as an anchor to find a way through.”
What are your hobbies outside of teaching?
“I love strong coffee, cooking, hanging out at the gym (drinking more coffee than training) and losing myself in music. I’m also fascinated by psychology and shamanic practice, the ways we express and heal through creativity, movement and sound. Those threads often weave back into how I teach.”
How do you want people to feel after your class?
“To be as they are as there is no ‘right or wrong’ way to feel. I encourage anyone to release the attachment to how they think we should feel or be and instead trust what their body is guiding them to notice. I hope people leave feeling not just stronger, taller, stretched or calm, but genuinely reconnected, more themselves, with a renewed sense of aliveness and fullness.”
What is a common misconception about Forrest Yoga before people try it?
“That it’s just another style of power yoga or that it’s too intense. Forrest Yoga is strong, but it’s also deeply therapeutic. It’s not about performance or flexibility, it’s about feeling. It teaches you to meet yourself with honesty and compassion, and that’s where the transformation happens. This practice is full of contrast, both strong and soft. It can be whatever you need it to be!”
If you could give your beginner self one piece of advice about yoga, what would it be?
“Breathe, breathe, breathe and don’t rush the process. You don’t need to earn your breath or your rest. The real work isn’t in doing more, it’s in softening enough to listen to what your body already knows. Spoiler alert: when I first stepped onto the mat, I hated it! But something kept pulling me back, and eventually I realised the thing I was avoiding was exactly what I needed.
Stick with it, even when you don’t think you can, there’s always a way to make this yours. Remember, you don’t fit into the pose; the pose fits you!”
“Forrest Yoga and Body Psychotherapy invite us to move beyond the surface of practice, into strength, awareness, and deep self-connection. My hope is that each class at Gusto House becomes a place where people can exhale, grow, and connect with a beautiful community. We rise together!”
Polly’s class starts on Wednesday 5th November at Gusto House.
